I just posted a review on Yelp for the library - here it is, and thank you so much for all your help!

"I love this library!! I am new to town and have been delighted to find a lovely group of people at this library, who are interested in books, learning, and building community. I have felt so welcomed and had all my study and tech requests accommodated. The staff really go the extra distance to help me find the right titles, and to bring them in from other libraries, if needed. The free library also has a lively schedule of activities and clubs meeting weekly. The building itself is a classic, and it is a wonderful feeling to come in out of the weather, select a book, and spend a quiet hour in one of the cool antique wooden chairs by the piano or by a stately window. My family and I walk there and visit our new library every chance we get, and really enjoy this new tradition. Hudson Falls Free Library hits just the right note for a small town library, and it is just how libraries ought to be! A valuable part of a complex, historic, and beautiful community, in upstate New York.

New Director

On Feb. 7, The Hudson Falls Free Library welcomed a new director: Kay Hafner.

Kay comes to us after having worked at Crandall Public Library as a clerk for nearly 13 years. She went back to get her master’s degree in information science after her only child graduated college in 2013. In 2015, Kay obtained her degree and began working as a part-time reference librarian at SUNY Adirondack, as well as keeping her clerk position at Crandall Public Library.

Stop by to say Hi to Kay and see the new things she’s doing at our library.

What is the impact of cell phones on our society?

What is the impact of cell phones on our society? Check out this latest post from .gov:

“What impact have cell phones had on us socially? Find out by watching this live webcast, on June 4th, at 11:00 am and 2:00 pm EST. https://qrius.si.edu/webcast-unseen-connections-natural-his…

Students will meet Joshua Bell, a cultural anthropologist at the National Museum of Natural History, and explore with him the natural history of cellphones. He will take your class on a journey along a supply chain, from the mines that produce cell phone minerals to the millions of discarded cellphones. Joshua will help students reflect on the emerging social implications of a cell phone being one of our most utilized possessions.”
