Mark your calendar for a presentation on and discussion of J.R.R. Tolkien’s life and works, in honor of Bilbo and Frodo’s birthday! Join our Classics Book and Poetry Group on September 12 at 11 a.m. as we learn about Tolkien’s childhood, adulthood, and impact on fantasy in literature. In particular, we will discuss his classic novel, The Hobbit, and touch on its sequels, The Lord of the Rings trilogy. (And because it is a hobbit party, we will of course have snacks.) Brush up on your Tolkien ahead of time by asking for a book at the desk, or just come for the camaraderie and celebration of this classic author and his iconic land of Middle Earth.
